The 2016 International Tahona Society has crowned its winner!
First place went to Kelsey Ramage from the highly awarded Dandelyan bar in London’s Mondrian Hotel. Second place went to Bethany Ham from the Corner Door in Los Angeles and third place went to Simon Kistenfeger from Norway.
The competition was judged over a series of four challenges to test a whole range of abilities. The Blind Box challenge tested finalists to select three ingredients from a surprise 16 to make a cocktail with. The Blind Tasting challenged competitors on their tequila knowledge while an interview enabled the judges to get a good idea of the character and knowledge behind each contestant. The last challenge was the final cocktail competition.
This year’s contestants were judged by PTT Family Director of Mixology and co-creator of Altos, Charles Joly founder of Craft House Cocktails and a past winner, Head chef of Hueso restaurant Alfonso Cadena, last year’s winner Mike Capoferri, Master Distiller Jesus Hernandez, Director of Strange Hill and Carlos Ramirez from Pernod Ricard.
